“We didn’t make some of the same mistakes that have plagued us,” Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley said. “I know it kind of sounds simple, but we did, we just played better.”

USC opened the game with a 10-play, 77-yard drive that was capped by a 1-yard touchdown run from Marks. After a field goal from Rutgers, Marks scored his second touchdown of the first half from a yard out to give USC a 14-3 lead in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Moss gave USC a 21-3 lead with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Ford. Rutgers added two field goals before Marks scored his third touchdown of the game to give USC a 28-9 lead.

“I  give a ton of credit to the guys in that locker room, the staff, really the whole program on how they seem to come together and fight through adversity, Moss said. “And, yeah, it’s great to close one out, and hopefully we get on a run here in the back half of the season.”

Marks is the first running back to score three touchdowns in the first half since 2004. Rutgers added a field goal to cut the USC lead 28-12 before halftime.

Rutgers scored their first touchdown of the game on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Athan Kaliakmanis to Christian Dremel in the third quarter. USC answered with a Moss 7-yard touchdown run and the Trojans took a 35-20 lead with 6:32 left in the third quarter.

USC put the game away when Moss hit Makai Lemon for a 40-yard touchdown. Lemon finished with four receptions for 134 yards and a score. He also returned a kickoff 80 yards to set up Marks’ second touchdown.

Rams Beat The Raiders At SoFi

INGLEWOOD, CA– Regardless of their disappointing 2024 season so far, anytime the Las Vegas Raiders come to town it’s a big deal. Sunday afternoon at SoFi Stadium was no exception, as the Los Angeles Rams held off the Las Vegas Raiders, 20-15.

The Rams defense was ferocious in the Victory, improving to a mark of 2-4. A chance to play against the Raiders’ subpar offense run by its backup quarterback was the perfect antidote.

Kam Curl returned a fumble 33 yards for a touchdown and Kyren Williams rushed for 76 yards and two scores in the Rams ‘victory over Las Vegas on Sunday, October 20th.

Cobie Durant had an interception and later caused the fumble returned for a TD by Curl for the Rams (2-4), who forced Gardner Minshew to commit four turnovers — the same number harvested by Los Angeles in its first five games of the season combined.

The emphasis on attacking the ball was at an all-time high today,” Durant said. “All week we emphasized it, and it displayed today. What a great day it is to attack the ball!”

The Raiders’ backup QB was forced into action by an early hand injury for Aidan O’Connell, and the Rams pounced. Jaylen McCollough had two more interceptions for Los Angeles, including the game-clinching pick with 1:18 to play.

Matthew Stafford passed for 154 yards — his lowest total in four seasons with Los Angeles — as the Rams snapped a two-game skid during their worst start to a season in coach Sean McVay’s eight years in charge.

No time to rest for the Rams. On Thursday night, the Rams will host Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings. It will be a tough test, since the Vikings are one of the NFL’s premiere teams. Kickoff is 5:15 pm on Thursday.

Oregon Shuts Out Purdue Despite Allowing 200 Rushing Yards

West Lafayette, IN-The last time the Oregon Ducks visited West Lafayette was in 1979 for their first meeting with the Boilermakers. On Friday night, however, Ross-Ade Stadium felt like familiar territory for the Ducks.

Both teams entered the game after thrilling performances last week, but Oregon, now ranked #2 and new to the Big Ten, showed no signs of fatigue despite having a short week to prepare.

Oregon wasted no time, scoring on their first two possessions to secure a dominant 35-0 victory. Running back Jordan James punched in two early touchdowns in the opening quarter, setting the tone for the Ducks’ offense.

Purdue had flashes of brilliance, such as Kyndrich Breedlove’s interception before halftime, which gave the defense a spark, but it wasn’t enough to last four quarters. “I haven’t needed to, like, beg them to continue to play or continue to be bought in,” said Purdue head coach Ryan Walters.

Purdue’s offensive line and running back committee, led by Reggie Love III (11 carries, 93 yards), rushed for 208 total yards, showing glimpses of potential.

In his second career start, Ryan Browne stepped in for Hudson Card, who remains in concussion protocol, and while he struggled at times, he also made some notable plays, completing 9 of 19 passes for 93 yards, one interception, and contributing 48 rushing yards.

Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel continued his hot streak from last week’s win over Ohio State, throwing for 290 yards and two touchdowns, leading his team to a 21-0 halftime lead.

The Boilermakers fought hard but eventually gave up two fourth quarter touchdowns, including a spectacular 8-yard pass from Gabriel to Noah Whittington, who pinned the ball to his helmet, followed by a 2-yard rushing touchdown from Jay Harris.

Now 1-6 (0-4) in conference play, Purdue has a chance to rebound after their bye week with a home game against Northwestern, though tough matchups with Ohio State, Penn State, and Indiana loom. For Oregon, upcoming road battles against Michigan and Wisconsin will test their mettle, keeping Big Ten football as thrilling as ever!

Chargers Beat Broncos In Mile High

Denver, CU- The Los Angeles Chargers staved off a late Broncos rally, to survive with a 23-16 victory. However, the game was secondary to the irregular heartbeat and health of Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh.

Jim Harbaugh listened to his heart when he began to feel a little bit off in pregame warmups.

The Los Angeles Chargers coach went into the medical tent and then to the locker room in the first quarter Sunday to get checked out for an irregular heartbeat. An EKG showed his heart was back in normal rhythm and he returned to the sideline with his team already up 3-0.

It was quite a scene watching the head coach enter the blue medical tent. Watching the charger over three decades, frankly nothing is surprising at this point with the franchise.

The Los Angeles Chargers improve to 3-2 on the season. While Chargers, quarterback, Justin Herbert had his signature performance of 2024.

Veteran edge defender Khalil Mack tallied five quarterback pressures — all hurries — and beat his blocker another three times in the game. However, his biggest impact came in run defense, where he made two stops and forced a fumble.

The Chargers played their most-dominant first half of the season where they built a 20-0 lead at the half behind a resurgent passing attack coupled with a defense that recorded two takeaways from the Broncos offense. At halftime, Justin Herbert had already thrown for more yards than he had in any of the prior four games this season.

However, despite all of the first half momentum, the Chargers offense once again went dark in the second half. They scored just three points after the midway point and once again put up a goose egg in the fourth quarter for the third consecutive game.

The lack of offense allowed the Broncos to make this another sweaty experience for Chargers fans as Denver scored 16 unanswered points and recorded most of their 316 yards of offense in the final quarter. Their three scoring drives to end the game spanned 95, 64, and 74 yards, respectively.

Next week, the Chargers will be on the road for Monday Night Football, facing the Arizona Cardinals. The future is looking bright for the Bolts.

Colorado Show Depth in Nail Biter Loss to Kansas State

Boulder, CU- Saturday night wouldn’t be right without another epic nail biter at Folsom field. The star sightings were everywhere on the Buffs sideline as newly acquired Nuggets point guard Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns shared a sideline for the first time since they played together in Oklahoma City.

Speaking of former teammates Sheduer Sanders and the Colorado Buffs also shared the field with a former teammate against Dylan Edwards on his new team the Kansas State Wildcats. Edwards a Kansas native who was a part of Colorado first season with Coach Prime last year being a focal point of offense last season. But decided to enter the transfer portal as the Buffs started beefing up their backfield this year with promising new backs.

The Buffs defense struggled all night, stopping the run as Edwards and the Kansas State gave the Buffs headaches rushing for 185 yards Saturday night as Edwards scored a touchdown in a back up role to lead back DJ Giddens . Who had a monster game on the ground gaining 182 yards on 25 carries.  Who out gained the Buffs 185- negative 29 yards rushing. Which gave the Wildcats the nod on the time of possession 35 minutes to Colorado’s 25 minutes.

Even with Kansas State being effective with the run game. Sheduer had the passing game clicking all night and was insync connecting with nine different receivers even after losing four of his receivers. All of them being rotational starters. There was no bigger loss than Travis Hunter, and  Jimmy Horn Jr who both went down in the second quarter. Which wasn’t a problem for the Buffs to move the ball having probably the best receiving corps group in the nation.

Omarion Miller and Will Shepard led Colorado as the next men up. Miller had 8 grabs for 145 yards before exiting with the injury. LaJohntay Webster also added 5-58yatds and two touchdowns in the game. Shepard had 5-83 yards and a touchdown. Terrell Timmons .Jr also went down with an injury.

Sanders threw for 34-40 388 and 3 touchdowns. Sheduer Stating “never in my life have I ever seen four receivers go down in the same game but we are stacked at Receiver so it’s the next man up.”

Even though the Buffs had a tough time, stopping K State’s run game, the Buffs defense line made timely plays in the in big moments, especially in the second half. BJ Green seem to hit a second gear and was able to get to the quarterback twice (2) his first two sacks of the season. Taje McCoy also had a productive game earning his third sack in the past two games.

Carlton Hood came up with the biggest play of the night as he picked off quarterback Avery Johnson returning it 59 yards to almost score and putting the Buffs in scoring position in the red zone. Sanders connects with LaJohntay Webster again to put the Buffs up 28-24 with 3 mins left in the 4th.

Unfortunately, the Buffs they gave up two big plays that allow Kansas State to come back down and score. And the game ended on fourth down play that could have been pass interference to the sidelines to Will Shepherd to end the Buffs hopes of a come back. Final KSU31-COL28.

No. 3 Oregon upsets No. 2 Ohio State in a back and forth “Heavyweight Fight”

Photo by Evan Luecke / fi360 News

EUGENE, OR – The Oregon Ducks hosted their first top five matchup in Autzen Stadium history where they defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes 32-31 in what Dan Lanning described as “A heavy weight fight… [that] could go every round”.

Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel may have revitalized his Heisman campaign with a brilliant performance in which he went 23/34 for 341 yards and 3 total touchdowns. The Ducks offense has struggled with chemistry at times this season, but Gabriel’s timing with his receivers nearly perfect.

After a back and forth first quarter, momentum flipped for the Ducks in the second when they were trailing by 8 points at 14-6. Needing an answer to Ohio States scoring drive led by running back TreVon Henderson, Dillon Gabriel quickly connected with Evan Stewart on a 69-yard pass and found him again for an incredible 10-yard touchdown despite cornerback Denzel Burke grabbing his facemask.

Lanning brilliantly elected to take the penalty yards on the kickoff, where the Ducks successfully used the shorter distance to their advantage, recovering an onside kick after Atticus Sappington bounced a 10-yard line drive directly off an Ohio State defender. Sappington went on to give Oregon their first lead of the game at 15-14 with a 27-yard field goal.

The Ducks turned to Sappington once again late in the fourth quarter where he gave the Ducks their final lead of the game with a 19-yard field goal, leaving Will Howard 1:47 to march the Buckeyes into field goal range.

Howard moved the Buckeyes down to Oregon’s 38-yard line, and with six seconds remaining scrambled for 12 yards to the Oregon 26-yard line as time narrowly expired.

Dan Lanning and the Ducks have bigger goals than beating Ohio State, but Saturday’s win feel like a pivotal moment for the program. Lanning finally proved he can win the big game, and fittingly did so against Oregon’s former head coach and now offensive coordinator for the Buckeyes, Chip Kelly. After the game Dillon Gabriel said “We know this is just a step in the right direction and a big win… [but] the sun rises tomorrow and we gotta go earn it”.

The Ducks will travel to West Lafayette, IN next week to face Purdue at 5pm PST.

UCLA crumbles in second half as Bruins drop their fourth straight game in loss to Minnesota

Photo by Jevone Moore / Full Image 360

Pasadena, CA- UCLA was one half away from picking up their first ever win as a member of the Big Ten conference against a good Minnesota team.

Instead they blew a 10 point lead in the second half amid another poor offensive performance in their 21-17 loss on Saturday night at the Rose Bowl.

UCLA’s head coach Deshaun Foster said his team must put together a complete performance if they want to compete.

Coach Foster (Photo by Jevone Moore / Full Image 360)

“It was a tale of two halves. We came out in the first half and played well,” Foster said. “The discipline that we need to play in the second half wasn’t there at all. We are a one-half team right now. I have to find a way to get these guys to come out and approach the second half like we do [with] the first half of games. Until we do that, we aren’t going to be able to get out of our own way, and we are going to continue to take losses like this.”

It was a tough game for Bruins’ quarterback Ethan Garbers as he threw three interceptions in the loss but had 293 passing yards and one touchdown.

Despite throwing for a season-high in passing yards, Garbers mentioned that turnovers kill a team’s offensive chances.

Garbers under pressure (Photo by Jevone Moore / Full Image 360)

“The stats don’t really matter when you have three turnovers in there. Like I said before, you will never win games with that many turnovers. I have to be better in that area,” Garbers said.

Foster defended his quarterback after the game.

“It’s not just Ethan out there. There are 10 other guys out there who have got to do their job for him to be successful, so we’ve just got to get back and regroup and get ready for this next week,” Foster noted.

The Bruins had their worst rushing game of the season. They only managed to put together 36 total yards on the ground. Jalen Berger finished with a team-high of 20 yards on eight carries. TJ Harden had his worst game as a Bruin as his role continues to diminish each passing week. Harden had seven carries for 15 yards as the UCLA offensive line struggled to get a push all night long.

The Golden Gophers weren’t much better with their rush attempts. UCLA’s defense held them to only 41 yards on the ground, including holding Minnesota’s star running back Darius Taylor to only 30 yards after he had 144 the week before.

Photo by Jevone Moore / Full Image 360

However, once again the Gophers relied on the arm of their quarterback Max Brosmer as he threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns, including going 5-7 for 61 yards on Minnesota’s go-ahead scoring drive to lift the Gophers over the Bruins.

Despite another tough loss, sending them to a 1-5 record, Garbers remained optimistic after the loss.

“If anything, this will just motivate us even more because we are still hungry to get a win in the Big Ten. This is just going to motivate us even more to work harder and keep this thing going,” Garbers said.

No.4 Penn State erases 14-point deficit to defeat USC in overtime

Photo by Jordon Kelly / fi360 News

Los Angeles, CA – No. 4 Penn State overcame a 14-point deficit and tight end Tyler Warren caught 17 passes for 224 yards and a touchdown to lead the Nittany Lions to a 33-30 overtime win over USC on Saturday at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

USC kicker Michael Lantz missed a 45-yard field goal attempt on the Trojans first possession of overtime. Penn State got down to the 19-yard line where kicker Ryan Barker hit a 36-yard field goal to defeat the Trojans and remain unbeaten at 6-0.

Photo by Jordon Kelly / fi360 News

“Hard-fought game, you know, just a really difficult loss,” USC coach Lincoln Riley said. “There’s really no way to sugarcoat that. Our guys fought their ass off from beginning to end. As a coach, you can’t ask for anything more than the effort that our guys put on the field. Two good football teams going at it. Came down to the last play, and it hurts to not be able to get this done.”

After a 34-yard field goal from Baker, USC running back Quinten Joyner faked a reverse handoff and raced upfield for a 75-yard touchdown. The Trojans took a 7-3 lead in the first quarter.

USC opened the second quarter with a 7-play, 89-yard drive that was capped by a Miller Moss 9-yard touchdown pass to Joyner. Lantz added a couple field goals to give USC a 20-6 lead at halftime. Penn State didn’t score a touchdown in the first half.

Penn State cut the USC lead 20-13 with a 32-yard touchdown catch from Warren in the third quarter, The Nittany Lions got the ball back and drove 90 yards down the field to tie it 20-20 on Kaytron Allen’s 1-yard touchdown run with 4:42 left in the third quarter.

Lantz added a 39-yard field goal to give USC a 23-20 lead at the end of the third quarter. Penn State hit a field goal to tie it at 23 in the 4th quarter. USC took back the lead 30-23 on a Kyron Hudson 5-yard touchdown catch with 4:54 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Nicholas Singleton caught a 14-yard touchdown pass to tie it once again, 30-30, in the fourth quarter. The Nittany Lions and the Trojans traded interceptions at the end of the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime.

Photo by Jordon Kelly / fi360 News

“It’s going to make for a great ride home. It’s going to make for a great bye week,” Penn State coach James Franklin. “There’s a ton of things that I think we’re going to be able to learn from this game, and we need to learn from this game, because we’re far from perfect. We’re also 6-0 and 1-0 this week, and we’re going to take it and run.”

USC will look to bounce back from the loss when they travel to play Maryland on Saturday, Oct. 19.

“They all hurt. This one especially was excruciating, just in the manner that it happened,” Moss said. “I think the flip side of that is that we’ve got a really good locker room filled with really great people and really great coaches that’s going to continue to stay together and go on and run this back half of the season. And that’s the No. 4 team in the country. So what does that make us?”

UNLV Dominates Utah State with Explosive First Half, Wins 50-34

Photo by Jason Strother / fi360 News

LOGAN, Utah — Hajj-Malik Williams threw three first-half touchdown passes, and Kylin James ran for three scores as UNLV powered to a 50-34 win over Utah State on Friday night. The Runnin’ Rebels exploded for 27 points in the second quarter, setting a program record for most points in a half against an FBS opponent.

UNLV (5-1, 2-0 Mountain West) bounced back after a 44-41 overtime loss to Syracuse last week, which ended their brief stint at No. 25 in the AP rankings. The Rebels’ offense rolled to 367 total yards in the first half, giving them a commanding 41-7 lead at halftime.

Utah State (1-5, 0-2) has now lost five straight games, marking its longest single-season losing streak since 2016.

“Problem is, right, there’s two halves in football, so we’re going to build off that second half.” said Utah St coach Nate Dreiling, “There’s no doubt about it, but we need to do a better job.”

James led UNLV’s ground game with 101 yards on 11 carries. Ricky White III hauled in seven receptions for 138 yards and two touchdowns, while Jai’Den Thomas rushed 17 times for 139 yards and a score.

UNLV set the tone early, starting with Williams connecting with Jacob de Jesus for a 38-yard gain on the game’s first play. James followed with a 33-yard run, then capped the drive with a 5-yard touchdown, putting the Rebels up 7-0 just 1:10 into the game.

Williams later completed three straight passes to White, the final one an 18-yard touchdown that extended UNLV’s lead to 14-0. Utah State responded with a 79-yard drive, culminating in a 20-yard touchdown run by Rahsul Faison, narrowing the deficit to 14-7 at the end of the first quarter.

Photo by Jason Strother / fi360 News

UNLV quickly pulled away in the second quarter. After a Caden Chittenden field goal, Williams threw an 18-yard touchdown to Casey Cain. A turnover on the next Aggies possession set up another James touchdown, and Chittenden later added a 49-yard field goal. White’s 31-yard touchdown reception with 1:53 left in the half pushed UNLV’s lead to 41-7.

Spencer Petras led the Aggies with 358 yards on 35-of-48 passing and threw three touchdown passes, but it wasn’t enough to overcome UNLV’s dominant start.

Hernandez and Hernandez Send Dodegers To The Pennant

LOS ANGELES, CA–  In decisive, winner take all Game 5 between NL West foes, the San Diego Padres wilted under the pressure, as the Los Angeles Dodgers silenced the Padres bats en route to a hard fought 2-0 victory at the rowdy Dodgers Stadium.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are returning to the NLCS and will be looking to win their first NL pennant since 2020, when they won the World Series. Awaiting the Boys in Blue are the New York Mets. The National League Championship Series begins Sunday night at iconic Dodgers Stadium.

It was the bottom of the second inning when Enrique Hernández went deep to provide the first run of the game. This was the 75th career playoff game for Kiké and the blast above was his 14th career homer in those playoff games.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto took the mound for the Dodgers in a pitching duel facing former Dodger Yu Darvish-with the season on the line-and was magnificent. A truly resilient performance since he was rocked in Game 1.

PHOTO: Michael C. Floch

In five scoreless innings, he gave up only two hits and one walk. He struck out two, but didn’t give up much hard contact. More than anything, he provided his team with length and didn’t give up a single run in the final game of a series that had seen so much scoring in the first four games.

The Padres offense over the final two games was nonexistent. A new Ice Age. It seems unfathomable, however, the Padres were unable to score a single run in the final 24 innings. Sweet revenge for the dodgers who were knocked out by the same padres in 2023.

The bullpen was great in the back half of this series, just like they were in Game 1. They closed the door after Yamamoto departed in this one, too. In addition to Yamamoto in Game 5, credit Evan Phillips, Michael Kopech and Blake Treinen.

Even with the Padres’ offense having laid dormant for so many innings, the 1-0 lead still felt pretty tenuous heading into the late innings. Teoscar Hernández made it a little easier to breathe with this blast in the bottom of the seventh.

The 31-year-old veteran had a nice bounce-back year in 2024 after a down season with the Mariners in 2023. This year, he hit 33 homers and drove home 99 runs, making his second All-Star team in the process. He even won the Home Run Derby.

The Dodgers advance to the NLCS to host the Mets in a best-of-seven battle for the pennant. Game 1 will take place in Chavez Ravine on Sunday.

The Mets closed their series down on Wednesday, giving them plenty of time to set up their pitching. And while the Mets were the No. 6 seed heading into the playoffs, they had the best record in baseball from June through the end of the season.

The Dodgers, of course, had the best record in baseball, period.

The Dodger won the season series, four games to two, and outscored the Mets 36-20. They haven’t played each other since May 29, however, so it’s hard to call those results relevant to how this series will unfold.

Brace yourself for plenty of blue in the NLCS!
