Westwood, CA- UCLA Bruins (11-11, 6-5 Pac-12) won its third game in a row and fifth in a row against the Oregon Ducks (15-7, 7-4 Pac-12), 71-63, on Saturday night in Pac-12 play at Pauley Pavilion. A great way to finish off the Oregon schools on this home stand.
Dylan Andrews had 21 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds to lead the Bruins during his 38 minutes of game play.
The freshman guard from Chicago showed up strong dropping in 16 points and 3 steals playing both sides of the court.
The Bruins led by as many as three points in the second half, but Oregon clawed their way back into the game.
“They made a big run at us,” said UCLA coach Mick Cronin, “You get more possessions than your opponent. You don’t need to be an econ major at UCLA to figure out you got a better chance to win. But that takes effort to take care of the ball, turn them over and outrebound them. So I just think we’re learning what winning effort it is.”
Oregon had three players score double digits led by senior guard N’Faly Dante who scored 16 points, 8 rebounds, with 4 assists. Jadrian Tracey had the hot hand with 3-7 from three-point land.
Andrews kept making shots for the Bruins, he hit a 3 to give UCLA a six-point lead with less than 3 minutes on the clock.
“Well, you just got to have the last run. Again, you got to be in these type of games. You can look back and say hindsight 20-20. Trust me – because I do, it’s really hard for me to sleep, said Cronin “I have to remind myself that you probably had to go through the stuff we went through to get to where we are now as much you wish you could rewind.”
This win gets the Bruins back to .500 overall going in the home stretch of the Pac-12 season. This upcoming week they travel to play Stanford & Cal.
