Los Angeles, Ca – There was only one game standing between the Coach Manuel Douglas and his Narbonne Gauchos to reach another opportunity at a Championship ring. That team was the Dorsey Dons the marine league #3 behind 1st year head coach Irvin Davis. Both teams playing pretty lose with nothing to lose mentality. Narbonne came away with impressive 42-0 victory over the Dorsey.
The Gauchos had a balanced scoring each quarter finding the end zone with four different options. It was a great game plan playing against a team that had nothing to lose but was thinking they could steal one. The safe play netted them just what they need an injury free game to be at full strength for the Championship.
The night was little more special for Narbonne QB Roman Ale who tied Troy Williams’ school record for career touchdowns with 40 on a 74-yard strike to Cedric Byrd. Ale was able to complete 8/10 for 203 yards on the night.
Running back Sean Riley normally is needed to be Mr. Spectacular but tonight just need to be the clean up man scoring on runs for 1, 3 yards for his two touchdowns. Back up running back Kameron Denmark had a 8 yard touchdown run, while the offense just marched most of the game down the field.
Dorsey’s offensive never really got going on the ground by Devin Mangrum or Charles Mincy, Jr., the line just was a step slower getting to their blocks. Narbonne secondary played tight coverage most of the night and never let QB Jerman Gotoy get any deep passes into his receivers.
Now the Division I Championship game is set Narbonne (11-2) will play No. 6 seed Crenshaw next Saturday at 7 p.m. in the City final at Cerritos College. It is Narbonne’s fifth-straight trip to the City finals.
