Las Vegas, NV – The PAC-12 Tournament has proven to be the best show in Las Vegas tonight! The California Bears ( The last California hold out) against the Utah Utes. Where the game went to overtime with the Utes and had a final score of Utah 82 California 78.
This game was the surprise in the surprise delivering that surprise ending! California got on the roll early in the game. Nailing those easy layups, making opportunities for pretty jumpers and forcing those Utah turnovers. Utah came out of halftime on a full offense press realizing that the possibility of them going home just got real! With Lorenzo Bonam finding his mojo and Jakob Poeltl kicking into fifth gear.
Utah stepped it up so well they took the lead. But Cal was not going to make this win easy for them. Cal had just enough fuel left tie the game up taking it into overtime. But in the end the team that puts more balls in the hoop goes on to the next round.
After the game Utah head coach spoke on today’s victory, “What a day of basketball here at the MGM, really. First game overtime, our game overtime, all the top seeds winning games. It’s March Madness at it’s finest, and I’m just extremely proud of our guys for not giving in.”
When you look back at the stat sheet Utah’s 7’0 Freshman center jumps off the paper leading his team with 29 points, 11 Rebounds. Clearly the inside consistent play made this win possible.
Utah will have to fight it out with Oregon Saturday night for the right to be the king of the PAC-12. Will the almost home court feeling give them that comfort zone and confidence needed to take this all the way?
