Today’s 39-30 victory over the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers came only by true grit and determination. When it was time for somebody to step up they did just that, from interceptions, to breaking tackles and matching the Steelers intensity.
This win came at huge price losing pro bowl tight end Jimmy Graham who tore patellar tendon in the fourth quarter after diving for a potential touchdown catch. Wilson was highly efficient completing 21/30 passes for 345 yards and five touchdowns. One of his main targets was Doug Baldwin who hit 6 times for 145 yards with most impressive was 80 yard break and go for go ahead touchdown.
The Steelers rode on the back of Ben Roethlisberger till he broke in 4th quarter. Before he left the game hurt he had thrown for 456 yards on 55 attempts connecting on only on 36 of those. The Seahawks were able to sack Roethlisberger two times in the game which is not that easy. Richard Sherman followed Pittsburgh big play receiver Antonio Brown for almost the whole game. Brown was only able to catch 6 passes for 51 yards average 8.5 yards per catch. The Legion of Boom gave up 201 yards to WR Marcus Wheaton but that was game plan let somebody other than Brown beat us.
This game had a playoff feel to it from the crowd to type plays the players were make on both teams. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll was all smile when Baldwin scored and he knew that the playoffs would still be in sight. The Seahawks trailed by only a field goal at the half to make for great ending that both teams would have been upset if they came away empty handed.
In the post game press conference coach Mike Tomlin said, “The fake punt was my call & I take full responsibility for that.” This game was the Steelers game to win going down the stretch but defense of the Seahawks had other plans. The 12th man for the Seattle made their presence know and showed the true appreciation for a victory. They loved how every Seahawks ran hard after the catch to make up missing Marshawn Lynch who had surgery on a abdominal.
Now the Seahawks move to a record of 6-5 and are only three games behind Arizona. They will travel to face Minnesota and Adrian Petterson. While Pittsburgh will need to shake off this game and prepare for Indianapolis to chase the wildcard spot. Keep up with your favorite team by never giving up.
