SAN FRANCISCO – Quarterback Vernon Adams, Jr., of OREGON, linebacker Travis Feeney of WASHINGTON and kick returner Charles Nelson of OREGON have been named offensive, defensive and special teams Pac-12 Players of the Week in football.

Adams, Jr., a senior quarterback from Pasadena, Calif., threw for Oregon personal bests of 23 completions on 40 attempts, with 315 yards and 4 touchdowns in Oregon’s 61-55 triple-overtime win at Arizona State. He helped Oregon overcome deficits thrice, including an eight-yard touchdown pass with 12 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime. Adams, Jr., then completed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Bralon Addison in the third overtime for the eventual game winner.

Feeney, a senior outside linebacker from Richmond, Calif., led a Husky defense that held a high-powered Arizona offense to only three points, 38.8 points below its season average, and 330 yards of total offense, 205 yards below its season average. Feeney notched 11 tackles with nine coming solo, which included 4.5 tackles-for-loss and two sacks and forced two fumbles in the contest. This is Feeney’s second Defensive Player of the Week honors this season.


Nelson, a sophomore kick returner from Daytona Beach, Fla., recorded a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown late in the third quarter, cutting the Sun Devil lead to 31-27. He finished the game with four kickoff returns for 185 yards (46.3 average). Nelson had a game-high 15 tackles, and played a critical role in helping the Ducks only allow 16 yards on two punt returns and 50 yards on three kickoff returns.
