Oregon St drops Arizona St in the heat

Tempe, AZ- The Oregon St Beavers scorched the Arizona St Sun Devils in the dessert 31-7. The Beavers dominated on the ground and through the air amassing 443 total yards.

Beavers running back Damien Martinez (6) rushed for 138 yards on 22 carries with two touchdowns. Martinez carved up defense with chunks of yards, bulling through the line for the game first touchdown and never gave the lead back.

“Oh yeah definitely (Change in Culture), said Martinez “Everyone ready to make a play when our number is called.”

In the second quarter the Sun Devils had a lapse in coverage in the secondary that allowed freshman tight end Jack Velling (84) to slip up the field for a walk-in touchdown reception and 14-7 lead with 1:06 left in the half. Velling caught 3 passes for 74 yards to lead the Beavers.

Xazavian Valladay (1) tried to keep his team close by rushing for 109 yards on 13 carries with the Sun Devils only touchdown. Quarterback Trenton Bourguet (16) went 20/32 passes for only 122 yards hitting 7 different targets.

“We played very disappointing in all phases of the game,” said interim head coach Shaun Aguano. “Our kids still played, and they played hard. It was disappointing on all side.”

Now the Beavers winning their 8 game of the season field general Ben Gulbranson (17) has been a great game manager doing just enough to capture a victory. He threw for a touchdown and ran for a touchdown to account for two scores. Gulbranson hit 15 of first 17 passes and finished the game with 188 yards passing going 15/21.

The Beavers were not just happy with being bowl eligible the are finishing the year strong and ready to take on the Oregon Ducks at home next week.

Arizona St will travel to Tucson for the battle of the desert the day after Thanksgiving on Friday November 25 at 11am.
