Los Angeles- Los Angeles sparked up the excitement tonight at the Staple Center with the Los Angeles Sparks beating Washington Mystics 93 to 91. This is their second meeting this season and the Sparks have walked away with both of those Wins.
This game truly called the Spark’s Fans faith into question. The Sparks trailed the Mystic all the way into 3 minutes of the 4thquarter. The Mystic came out of the opening tip off gunning for a win. Hustling for loose balls and applying ample pressure to the Sparks defense. But their downfall was being way to generous with to a team that is consistently shooting 83% from the free throw line like the Los Angles Sparks. This fatal error would cost them the game.
The Sparks earn their bragging rights with sweat , team work and patients . At one point the Sparks were down 15 points but the Sparks didn’t retreat or surrender. As a matter of fact Candace Parker (who scored 26 points) and Nneka Ogwumike (who scored 24 points) rallied the team to step it up when the Mystic turned up the heat.
Ogwumike fresh from the injured reserve list came in hitting 14 out of 15 from the free throw line and Parker giving the crowd her 12th Double Double. Parker had the fans on their feet when she did a turnaround fade away jump shot. Alana Beard not wanting to be left out of the fun she moved in for some killer steals that truly added to the change in the momentum of the game. By the middle of the 4th the Sparks had a 9 point lead of which was chipped down to 3 points with less then 12 seconds remaining in the game. But you know what they say “Team work makes the dream work” Jantel Lavender and Ana Dabovic both cranked out double digits. The fans are pumped and primed for a win on Sunday.
