Los Angeles CA – It almost look like it was going to be Groundhog Day of the Washington lost for the USC Trojans on tonight’s game against the Arizona State Sun Devils. But the Trojans were able to shake that demon and pull off the win against the Sun Devils with a final score USC 75 Arizona State 65.

Both teams came out being very physical and energetic but Arizona State just couldn’t connect with the hoop so USC proceeded to take full advantage of their bad luck. The first half stats really made it known that USC ran wild with their field goal percentage of 51%, 3- points shots at 55.6% and free-throws at 50%. Another contributing factor was that Darion Clark had a total of 10 rebounds which allowed the Trojans opportunities for those fast break points they are famous for.

The Trojans really had their way with the Sun Devils. Showing that they really know how to play good team ball. Just about every Trojans that stepped out on the court had a point contribution given validity to head coach Enfield’s theory of unselfish ball wins games. Fact as of January 7, 2016 USC holds the first and second position in the Pac 12 for players with the most assist Julian Jacobs 1st & Jordan McLaughlin 2nd.

By the end of the first half USC had amassed a 10 point lead over Arizona State which had the Trojans coming out of the half overly confident and making careless turnovers that allowed the Sun Devils to chomp away at the lead and get within 2 points with only 1 minute and 49 seconds remaining in the game. But in true Hollywood dramatic fashion USC was able to put  10 points back to back sealing their win all the while bring a crowded house of fans to their feet.

This young Trojan team is realizing that conference teams are much stiffer competition and that the only way that they’re going to be able to win is if they play as a team and keep their composure.

The Trojans are having one of their best seasons ever but the test will be if they can maintain it through  to the second half.

Los Angeles, CA – The Loyola Marymount Lions kicked off their home conference schedule on Thursday night as they welcomed the Gaels of St. Mary’s University. St. Mary’s came in strong and took a 73-48 victory. The Lions were looking to pick up their first conference win of the season, after a woeful 0-3 road trip to open WCC play. Conversely, St. Mary’s came into Gersten Pavilion red hot, having won 7 straight games. The Gaels also stake claim to a West Coast Conference best 4-0 record thus far in conference play, and a conference leading 13-1 overall record.

The first half started off slow for the Lions, as they quickly found themselves down 18-8 after only 8 minutes of play. A key contributor to the early deficit was the Gaels dominance on the glass. LMU was finally able to grab their first rebound after nearly 9 full minutes had run off the game clock. After the shaky start LMU was able to find a little bit of a rhythm, starting with their ability to close out on St. Mary’s dangerous 3 point shooters. The Lions got themselves back into the contest and closed the gap to only 5 points with about 7 minutes to go in the half when Adom Jacko threw down a thunderous dunk over his late arriving defender. The final 5 minutes of the first half, however, belonged to St. Mary’s as they closed the half on a 7-0 run, with their star, Emmett Naar leading the way for them. Naar’s stellar first half ended with him drawing a hard contact foul while slashing to the basket as he did repeatedly throughout the game. He was able to regain his composure and connect on both ensuing free throws, as he ended the half with a remarkable 10 point, 3 assist, and 4 rebound halftime stat line while helping his team to a 33-21 halftime lead.

The Gaels came out in the second half with even more intensity than they showed in the first half, as they bullied the Lions on both ends of the floor. St. Mary’s showed why they are one of the most efficient teams in the nation from deep, as they connected on 62.5% of their 3 point attempts in the second half. They also demonstrated how stifling their defense can be as they held LMU to a putrid 36% from the field on the night. The deficit grew larger for the Lions as the night went on, however, the Lions does have something to be encouraged and excited about. As Adom Jacko again had an impressive showing, scoring 21 points and grabbing 8 rebounds against a very big and physical defense. Jacko will continue to be a nightmare for his opponents this season as he gains confidence and familiarity with his new team.

As the dust settled St. Mary’s walked away with another impressive win as the scoreboard read 73-48. With the win St. Mary’s improves to 14-1, and 5-0 in conference. They could possibly find themselves in the top 25 rankings when the next polls are released on Monday. LMU drops to 7-8 overall and 0-4 in conference. They will look to get off the schneid on January 9th at home when Pacific University comes to town.

Relocation to Los Angeles ALL IN!

Los Angeles, CA – Three NFL teams have given official relocation notice that they are ready to move to Los Angeles. Just as we have thought the St. Louis Rams, the Oakland Raiders and the San Diego Chargers all want to be in one of top markets in the United States. This will be like winning the lotto for one of these franchises getting the luxury of having “Los Angeles” in their name. Endorsements, merchandise, naming rights, there will be new revenue flying in the air.

Here are statements for NFL and the Teams:

NFL STATEMENT

Three teams – the Oakland Raiders, St. Louis Rams, and San Diego Chargers – each submitted applications to our office today to relocate their franchises to the Los Angeles area beginning with the 2016 season. Each team submitted the appropriate documentation in support of its application as required by the NFL Policy and Procedures for Proposed Franchise Relocations.
The applications will be reviewed this week by league staff and three league committees that will meet in New York on Wednesday and Thursday — the Los Angeles Opportunities, Stadium, and Finance committees. The applications will be presented for consideration at next week’s league meeting in Houston on Tuesday and Wednesday. The relocation of a franchise requires the affirmative vote of three-quarters of the NFL clubs (24 of 32).

RAMS STATEMENT

“The St. Louis Rams informed the National Football League today that the Rams propose to relocate to the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. The relocation would be effective for the 2016 NFL League Year.”

CHARGERS STATEMENT

Today the San Diego Chargers submitted to the National Football League the team’s application to relocate to Los Angeles.

We have tried for more than 14 years, through nine separate proposals and seven different mayors, to create a world-class stadium experience for fans in San Diego. Despite these efforts, there is still no certain, actionable solution to the stadium problem. We are sad to have reached this point.

What happens next is in the hands of the NFL’s owners, who will meet in Houston on January 12-13. The Chargers have pledged from the outset to respect whatever decision the League ownership makes.

RAIDERS STATEMENT

“In accordance with the relocation policies, the Oakland Raiders submitted a relocation package to the NFL. The matter is now in the hands of the NFL’s owners. An owners’ meeting is scheduled to take place in Houston, Texas on January 12 and 13, 2016.”

So all three teams will have the opportunity to present their proposals to NFL owners and the 32 owners will cast a vote. If you were an owner how would you vote? Do vote yes, to allow a teams to add more money to revenue sharing? Do vote no, so you can make your city build you new stadium because of your treat to move to Los Angeles? Who really knows why or how these owners will come up with their decision. A few votes will be just based on that’s my boy of course I going to vote yes.

If one of teams do get approval then where will they play as Carson or Inglewood stadium get built. One stadium in Los Angeles does what the extra revenue, rent money for few years. USC, which operates the Coliseum, has a contract that says the stadium can host only one NFL team, and it is willing to do so. So will Dodgers or Angels Stadium step up if NFL let’s two or three teams in Los Angeles?

Let’s watch and see ……………….. WHO’S READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?

Two-Time Champion Phil Mickelson becomes the latest player

To Enter 2016 CareerBuilder Challenge Field

Iconic, fan-friendly Southern California native has enjoyed tremendous success in the Coachella Valley

LA QUINTA, Calif. – Phil Mickelson, one of eight multiple event champions and one of the most popular players of his generation, has committed to play the 2016 CareerBuilder Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation.

Mickelson, a 2012 World Golf Hall Of Fame inductee and event champion in 2002 and 2004, will face two new courses: the TPC Stadium and Jack Nicklaus Tournament Courses at PGA WEST, which join longtime tournament mainstay La Quinta Country Club as courses for the event. Official rounds for the tournament, which features a $5.8 million purse, are scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 21 through Sunday, Jan. 24.

No matter the venue, Mickelson has enjoyed a great deal of success in the tournament. He is third (behind defending champion Bill Haas and 2005 event champion Justin Leonard) in all-time event earnings with $2,112,252 and has four top-10 finishes in 12 appearances.

Mickelson’s 37 birdies over 90 holes is tied for the tournament record and his four-shot rally to win the 2002 event in a playoff over David Berganio Jr. is tied for the second-biggest comeback in event history.

The titles in the desert are two of Mickelson’s 42 PGA TOUR victories, the second most among active PGA TOUR golfers. Included in that total are five major championships: the 2004, 2006 and 2010 Masters, the 2005 PGA Championship and the 2013 Open Championship.

Mickelson’s career legacy is one for the ages, no matter the era. He has earned more than $77.4 million to go with those 42 victories, five majors and 98 top-three finishes. Mickelson has made the cut in 83.6 percent of his starts (440 of 526) and has finished in the top 25 in more than half – 53.8 percent – of his starts.

“Phil Mickelson is not only one of the greatest players to ever compete in our event, but he is one of the greatest players in the history of the game,” said Tournament Director Bill Tait. “This is an event where he has enjoyed much success and has built a legacy for future players to strive toward. To see him compete in our event is a true thrill for every golf fan, no matter the age, because he is comfortable here and because he is one of the classiest professionals in the game when it comes to interacting with his amateur partners and with the fans.”

Mickelson’s warm rapport with fans is recognized at every venue. He is famous for staying behind after rounds and honoring every autograph request placed in front of him, which he has done numerous times at the Coachella Valley event. On top of that, Mickelson is an active participant in charitable endeavors, giving back through his active participation in The Phil and Amy Mickelson Foundation, the Birdies for the Brave, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, Homes for Our Troops and Start Smart.

Last season, Mickelson racked up eight top-25s in 19 events, including a T2 at The Masters. He made 16-of-19 cuts and banked more than $2.1 million. He capped his year by going 3-0-1 in the United States’ 15 ½-14 ½ victory over the International Team at the Presidents Cup in South Korea.

Mickelson becomes the 12th past event champion to commit to the 2016 event. He joins defending champion Bill Haas (a fellow multiple champion), Brian Gay (2013), Mark Wilson (2012), Jhonattan Vegas (2011), Pat Perez (2009), D.J. Trahan (2008), Charley Hoffman (2007), Chad Campbell (2006), Leonard (2005), Joe Durant (2001) and Mark Brooks (1996).

Tickets to see Mickelson up close are available at www.CareerBuilderChallenge.com, where limited-time specials on daily and all-week grounds badges are still available. For those fans seeking an extra experience tournament week, there’s Club 17 Presented by Hyundai, which can be purchased on the tournament’s website. Overlooking the TPC Stadium Course’s famous par-3 17th hole – nicknamed “Alcatraz” for its island green – Club 17 features a sports-bar atmosphere inside and views of some of the most exciting golf in the tournament outside.

–TYSON HELTON, NEIL CALLAWAY NAMED USC ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACHES

LOS ANGELES—Tyson Helton and Neil Callaway, assistant coaches on a record-setting Western Kentucky offense who between them have more than 50 years of coaching experience, have been named assistants at USC, Trojan head coach Clay Helton announced today (Jan. 4).

Tyson Helton, who was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Western Kentucky the past 2 years (2014-15), will coach USC’s running backs and be the pass game coordinator.  Callaway will be USC’s offensive line coach, the same position he handled with the Hilltoppers the last 3 seasons (2013-15).

The 38-year-old Tyson Helton, Clay’s younger brother, has been a coach for 16 years, while Callaway, 60, has coached for 37 years, including a stint as the head coach at Alabama Birmingham and stops as the offensive line coach with 3 Southeastern Conference teams.

“We are very excited to welcome Tyson and Neil to the Trojan Family,” said Clay Helton.  “Their experience and knowledge will be a huge benefit to our players as well as our football program.  Both have been highly successful coordinators and we look forward to the fresh energy and ideas they will bring.  I have watched them produce a pair of Top 10 offenses that averaged more than 44 points a game each of the past 2 years.  We look forward to them helping bring the same explosiveness to our offense at USC.”

With Tyson Helton and Callaway on staff, Western Kentucky’s offense was in the national Top 10 this year in passing efficiency (first at 177.4), scoring (third at 44.3), passing (fourth at 372.2), first downs (eighth at 349) and total yards (ninth at 526.4).  The Conference USA champions went 12-2 in 2015 (tying a school wins record) and are ranked 25th by AP after posting a victory in the Miami Beach Bowl.  In 2014, the Hilltoppers became the first NCAA program with a 4,500-yard passer and 1,500-yard rusher while winning the Bahamas Bowl to finish 8-4.  That season, they were second nationally in passing, fourth in total offense and sixth in scoring offense and first downs.  WKU set the school points record each of the past 2 years.

Western Kentucky broke more than two dozen school offensive records under Helton.  He coached quarterback Brandon Doughty to back-to-back Conference USA MVP honors as he threw 97 touchdown passes the past 2 years (the most in NCAA history in consecutive seasons).  Doughty led the nation in 2015 in completion percentage (71.9%), passing TDs (48), passing yards (5,055) and points responsible for (304) while ranking second in passing efficiency (176.5).  That came off a 2014 campaign in which he threw for national bests of 4,830 yards and 49 TDs while winning the Sammy Baugh Award from the Touchdown Club of Columbus as the nation’s top quarterback.

Hilltopper wide receiver Taywan Taylor ranked second in the nation in 2015 in receiving TDs (17) and was third in receiving yards (1,467), both school season records along with his 86 receptions.  Fellow receiver Jared Dangerfield had 82 catches in 2015, second most in school history.

Helton came to Western Kentucky after spending 2013 as Cincinnati’s special teams coordinator and tight ends coach.  Cincinnati set a school season total offense record (6,137 yards) as Helton coached tight end Blake Annen and kick returner Ralph David Abernathy IV to All-American Athletic Conference first team honors.

He spent the previous 6 seasons (2007-12) at Alabama Birmingham, the first 5 years as the quarterbacks coach (under Callaway) and then 2012 coaching the running backs and serving as the recruiting coordinator.

Under Helton’s guidance, Joe Webb developed into one of the most prolific quarterbacks in NCAA history.  In 2009, when he finished sixth nationally in total offense and ninth in passing efficiency, Webb became the first player in NCAA history to pass for 2,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in consecutive seasons.  The 2009 and 2010 Blazer offenses produced the two highest total offense yardage totals in UAB history, both topping 5,000 yards.  Then in 2012, running back Darrin Reaves was an All-Conference USA first teamer as he ran for 1,037 yards and a school-record 13 scores.

Helton coached tight ends and special teams at Memphis for 3 years (2004-06).  Tigers’ kicker Stephen Gostkowski, who established the school career scoring record, was Conference USA’s Special Teams Player of the Year in 2005 and played in the NFL.

Helton began his coaching career at Hawaii for 4 years (2000-03), the first year as a graduate assistant working with the special teams and the final 3 seasons as the special teams coach.  In 2001, his first as a full-time coach, the Warriors led the nation in kickoff return yardage and broke the NCAA record for season kickoff return average.  Return specialist Chad Owens set NCAA game records for most combined return yardage and most kickoff return yardage and tied an NCAA record with 2 scoring kick returns in a game.

Helton played quarterback at Houston (1996-99), where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business in 1999, after starring at Clements High in Sugar Land (Tex.).  His father, Kim, was the head coach at Houston during Tyson’s tenure.

He was born on June 20, 1977.  He and his wife, April, have 2 daughters, Shelby Grace, 12, and Presley, 10, and 6-year-old twin boys, Cole and Clay.  Besides being Houston’s head coach (1993-99), his father, Kim, was an assistant in college (Florida, Miami and Alabama Birmingham), the NFL (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Houston Oilers, Los Angeles Raiders, Washington Redskins) and CFL (Toronto Argonauts).

Under Callaway, Western Kentucky’s offensive line blocked for the school’s season passing and rushing record setters.  In 2015, the line ranked 13th nationally in sacks allowed (1.1) and lineman Forrest Lamp made the All-Conference USA first team.

Prior to arriving at Western Kentucky, Callaway was UAB’s head coach for 5 years (2007-11), going 18-42.  His 2009 squad’s offense was seventh nationally in rushing, while the 2010 Blazers were in the national Top 30 in passing offense and total offense.

From 2001 to 2006, he was the offensive coordinator at Georgia as the Bulldogs posted 61 victories, a pair of SEC titles, 3 SEC East titles, 4 bowl wins and 4 Top 4 poll finishes.  The 2002 Georgia squad led the SEC in scoring offense and passing efficiency, while the 2005 offense was second in scoring.  Six of Callaway’s Bulldog offensive linemen earned All-SEC honors, including 2005 All-American Max Jean-Gilles.

Before Georgia, Callaway was the offensive line coach at Alabama, his alma mater, for 4 years (1997 to 2000), while also serving as the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator the final 3 seasons.  Alabama won an SEC title during his time there.

He was the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Houston under Kim Helton for 4 seasons (1993-96).  The Cougars’ offensive line allowed just 19.5 sacks per season during his Callaway’s tenure, including just 10 in 1996.  Houston won the inaugural Conference USA championship in 1996.

Callaway was the offensive line coach at Auburn for 12 years (1981-92), helping the Tigers to 4 SEC championships.  He coached 4 All-American first team linemen and 14 All-SEC players, including Chris Samuels, the No. 3 pick of the 2000 NFL Draft.

He began his coaching career as a part-time assistant coach at East Carolina in 1978 and 1979, then was a graduate assistant at Wyoming in 1980.

Callaway was a lineman and linebacker at Alabama (1974-77) under coach Paul “Bear” Bryant, winning 3 conference titles during his playing days and being named the team’s Most Outstanding Athlete in 1977.  He received his bachelor’s degree from Alabama in 1978.

He prepped at Central High in Macon (Ga.).  He was inducted into the Macon (Ga.) Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.

He was born on Nov. 15, 1955.  He and his wife, Karen, have three children, Russ, Kate and Clay.

The West squad had some big plays and held 10-7 lead in 2nd quarter with wide receiver Theo Howard #4 (UCLA Commit) pulled in 17 yard touchdown from Dillon Sterling-Cole #12 (Arizona State). The Pac-12 connection was perfect chemistry at 6:40 mark for the West. Howard lead the West with 5 catches 81 yards and will check into Dorms tomorrow to start the winter quarter at UCLA for coach Mora.  All the West points came in the second quarter;  two field goals behind the leg of Tucker McCann #6 (Missouri Commit) 33 yards, 40 yards.

The West was shut out in the second half from the scoreboard but as an offensive still had impressive performers. Running back D’Vaughn Pennamon #5 (Ole Miss Commit) rushed for 124 on 15 carries with great vision and patients behind his offensive line. Terry Wilson #3 (Oregon Commit ) one of three quarterbacks for West who had 157 all purpose yards (111 passing, 46 rushing).

East defense had a lot to be happy about, game MVP Kareem said, “It’s just an honor to be here,..It was a great experience to be around these Marines. They were getting on our butts every day about doing pushups, running, being disciplined. It was a great week.”

These great players will remember this week with the marines and new friends who they will compete against for the next few years on their new college teams at the next level. The Sempre Fi bowl gives these young men their first sense of even higher level competition.

Pasadena, Ca – At the Grand Daddy of them All, the 102nd Rose Bowl saw Stanford running back  Christian McCaffrey put on a clinic. The Stanford Cardinals comes away smelling like roses in 45-16 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes.  McCaffrey ran away with the game offensive MVP and broke the all-purpose yards record set by Wisconsin’s Jared Abbrederis in 2012 with 368 all purpose yards of his own.

Today you just saw what an amazing player can do for a great team, even when you have the scouting report. You had to chuckle when it’s 3rd down and crowd is yelling, “Get #5” and defense still can’t stop him. Some fans who were stuck trying to get to their seats missed McCaffrey first touchdown on first play of the opening drive which was a 75 yard catch and run from quarterback Kevin Hogan.  From that point on everybody had the sense ooh this game could get ugly. By the end of the quarter the Cardinals led 21-0 and the Hawkseyes were frustrated.

Stanford coach David Shaw spoke about his best player in the country, “I think he was the best player in America before this game, so I think it’s just the icing on the cake for us.” The East Coast even had the opportunity to see McCaffrey greatness before bedtime.  You could tell he was just a college kid having fun and said, “it’s so fun when a team can come together and gel as a unit to try to make plays.”

The Hawkeyes did show some fight in the second half putting their first points on the board a 31 yard field goal. The Iowa fans went crazy for those three points, it was loud too from at least 3/4 of 94,268 fans in attendance to the game. Before clocked ticked zero they had added 13 more points in fourth quarter all for pride.

This Stanford team showed it belonged in top teams of college football by their all around dominating performance. The game will be a building block for Stanford going into the off season for the underclassman and yes McCaffrey will be back! The defense who held Iowa to a season low 48 yards rushing will also be back to brink havoc on the Pac-12.

This Rose Bowl win now bring the Pac-12 bowl record this football season to 6-2, with Oregon and Arizona State left to play tomorrow.

Wisconsin bullies USC in National Funding Holiday Bowl

San Diego, Ca – It wasn’t the start USC head coach Clay Helton wanted and it definitely wasn’t the ending he wanted either.

On a 4th and 10 USC QB Kody Kessler throws an incomplete pass to Darreus Rogers, which would’ve been short of the 1st down marker anyways.

“We were on two different pages,” said Rogers. “We forgot the down a distance and it was just a short route.”

And with the 3 seconds left all Wisconsin QB and offensive MVP Joel Stave had to do was take knee as the Badgers bullied the men of Troy in a 23-21 win in the National Funding Holiday Bowl.

A Kessler interception with less than two minutes to go a drive before, sums up USC’s struggle of a season.

After stepping in for Steve Sarkisian, the Trojans are 5-4 under newly appointed head coach Clay Helton.

After giving up 262 rushing yards in their Pac-12 championship game loss to Stanford earlier this month, Wisconsin rushed for 177 yards and proved that maybe the Pac-12 doesn’t have the physicality to keep with the smash mouth football teams in the big 10 and SEC.

On Saturday, Nebraska put on a clinic gashing UCLA on the ground rushing for 326 yards in their 37-29 Foster Farms Bowl victory.

USC found itself trailing 20-7 after Stave found Justin Davis completely open in the end zone for the 4-yard touchdown.

The Trojans struggled to give Kessler much time to throw the ball when he wasn’t getting sacked, as the No. 3 defense had no issues causing disarray. At one point, Wisconsin linebacker Jack Cichy took down Kessler 3 times in one series.

But with all that having transpired, USC still managed the grab a hold of the lead   21-20 with 10:19 left in the fourth quarter after Kessler was able to buy sometime to find Rogers for a 7-yard touchdown.

The Badgers wouldn’t go away and two 17-yard completions by back up QB Bart Houston set up Wisconsin for a 29-yard go-ahead field goal and essentially the game winner.

Wisconsin held USC to 65 rushing yards and made life difficult for the young star Adoree’ Jackson and JuJu Smith-Schuster.
The loss to the Badgers snaps a 13 game win streak against Big 10 opponents for USC.

The victory gives Wisconsin QB Joel Stave 31 wins as a starter breaking the school record previously held by Brooks Bollinger

The Pac-12 is 5-2 this year in Bowl games with three remaining. USC and UCLA are the two lone losses and have no more room to trend downwards, but coach Helton is happy with the talent surrounding his locker room.

“I think you look at a bunch of young kids and a few seniors who won a Pac-12 South championship,” he said. “Our future is bright.”

USC played 15 first-year freshmen this season and six have started. They used 26 true and redshirt freshmen this year.

In Kessler’s last game, he threw for 221 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception on 18 of 32 passing. He finishes his career at USC with 10,339 yards passing 88 touchdowns and 19 interceptions.

Obviously I wanted to win the game, but I was so proud of those guys, how hard they fought, the seniors and everybody,” said Kessler. “I left everything I had on that field.”

It wouldn’t be right to judge Helton on his turbulent start; he has yet to hire a staff. But it is fair to question whether his hiring was a make up for letting Ed Orgeron go.

One thing is for certain, Alabama is USC’s first game of next season and we know what we can expect from them.

Dr Pepper Most Inspirational Award

SAN DIEGO – Dean Klaser, a senior from Eastlake High School in Chula Vista, has been selected from a pool of San Diego county student-athletes to receive the 2015 Dr Pepper Most Inspirational Player Award. Klaser, who plays on both offense and defense, will be presented with a $2,000 scholarship on the field at the National Funding Holiday Bowl on December 30th.

The Dr Pepper Most Inspirational Player program aims to recognize a San Diego County high school football player “who, through their presence, actions and words of encouragement, serves as an inspirational example to their teammates.”

Klaser, who played both running back and defensive back for the Eastlake High School football team, was a lifelong football player who was being recruited by college scouts. In his junior year, Klaser ran for over 800 yards, caught three touchdown passes and defensively, was one of the top tacklers for Eastlake High School, a member of the Open Division.

At the end of last football season, Dean was diagnosed with a rare type of muscular cancer. He underwent emergency surgery, followed by nine months of chemotherapy. This season, although he was not able to rejoin the football team, Dean supported his teammates, attending practice and team functions. He has since been given a clean bill of health and continues to serve as a source of inspiration for his teammates and coaches, certainly deserving of the Dr Pepper Most Inspirational Player Award.

The Dr Pepper Most Inspirational Player is supported by 100.7 JackFM and the Kiwanis Club of San Diego.
