
Los Angeles, Ca – The Symbol of Supremacy in College Football, “The Coaches’ Trophy” presented by Amway. The iconic crystal football recognized by most, and endeared by college football players for years dating back to 1998. Each year one team gets the prestige’s award of holding this great hardware signifying “We Are #1” .
The Amway corporation has had the Coaches Poll Trophy on a tour through out the United States. The trophy stopped at USC which has had the opportunity to hoist it last in 2004. This was a great tour stop to encourage Amway business owners who were invited to this exclusive event in The Founder’s Club room located at the Galen Center on campus.
Team building, motivating, showing the way to take philosophy’s from winning in sports and showing how you can win in business. The panelists of University of Southern California greats were on hand and were moderated by Gerry Ahern (Vice President of Content USA Today Sports Media Group)

THE PANELIST
Coach John Robinson – USC Head Coach (1976-82, 1993-97) a former American football player and coach best known for his two stints as head coach of the University of Southern California football team and for his tenure as head coach of the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams.
Sam Cunningham – Running Back (1969-1972) Samuel Lewis “Sam” Cunningham, Jr is a retired American football fullback. He was named an All-American in 1972, In the 1973 Rose Bowl, he scored four touchdowns, which still stands as a modern-day Rose Bowl record. He was named Rose Bowl Player of the Game. He was inducted into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame in 1992 and into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
Shaun Cody – Shaun Michael Cody is an American football nose tackle who is currently a free agent. He played college football for the University of Southern California, and was recognized as a consensus All-American.
The panel shared a few great stories and answered questions on what they did to overcome certain situations during their careers / lifetimes. Here are few quotes that were shared with the lucky business owners in attendance.
Coach Robinson was asked about build a team and leading them, “Need to be an involved leader with your team, …be flexible for what’s coming ahead.”
Cunningham was asked what’s most important to obtaining your goals, “Always write down your goals, … then you can look back and see what have completed and what still need to do.”
Cody was asked about value of mentors, “…Ronnie Lott came into locker room after I tore my acl and told me this is what defines a champion and will make you stronger.”
After the panelist finished the business owners were invited to speak and ask questions with the panel in less formal setting. They posed for pictures, autographs and one on one interactions to conclude and motivate all to move further in their personal endeavors to end a great event.
