UCLA Bruins Women’s Basketball Heading to Sweet 16

Los Angeles, CA – UCLA holds on to beat South Florida 72-67 and advance to the Sweet 16. This will be the Lady Bruins first time back in the Sweet 16 since 1999. The first two games for the #3 seeded Bruins were played at home in Pauley Pavilion.

The Lady Bruins were led by Jordin Canada who scored 19 with 7 boards to led her team to victory. She had ice in her veins hitting six free throws in the last 25 seconds of the game.

This game was  a back in forth game of runs, that saw the Bruins up by as much 16 points. South Florida never gave up and found a run to make this a tight game in the fourth quarter.

South Florida’s Courtney Williams, the nation’s 10th-leading scorer, led the game with 29 points but was just not enough.

As the Bruins move on to Bridgeport, CT to face #2 seed Texas who defeated Missouri to advance. The PAC-12 has 4 teams advancing to the round of 16, Stanford, Oregon State, Washington and UCLA.
