Moorpark, CA – Moorpark High School is hosting three games Saturday August 31, for the annual Brothers in Arms classic, with two of the games having Los Angeles schools face off with schools from out of state.

At 1PM Los Angeles City Section powerhouse Narbonne faces off against Lone Pine from Utah. Last week the Gauchos handled Buchanan from Clovis where quarterback Jake Garcia threw three touchdowns. The defense also handled Buchanan to just seven points, which only happened early in the first quarter. Lone Pine, however, enters the matchup 2-0 and are a pass heavy team with Senior quarterback JD Neelman already tossing nearly 700 yards passing with six touchdowns.

Cajon from San Bernardino will head to the West side and face Cathedral. Cajon took a hard loss to Helix of San Diego, turning the ball over twice in the final minutes only to lose by a touchdown. Even with Patrick Ragan throwing three touchdowns, its defense let some key opportunities go. Cathedral on the other hand took care of Wilmington Banning in their season opener, with Lucas Lerhart tossing a stellar three touchdown and four hundred yard performance. Chad Johnson Jr., son of former NFL superstar Chad Johnson, caught two of those touchdowns.

Long Beach Poly could have their test of the year when Punahou of Hawaii visits for the nightcap at 8PM. The difference between these two teams: one starts their season Saturday when another enters already 4-0. The Jackrabbits have a long tradition of success, but there is a lot of inexperience that will take the field for the first contest of the year. The inexperience will surely be tested with sophomore quarterback Shea Kuykendall, who led his Freshman team towards an undefeated season last year. Punahou will be Poly’s firsthand test of the year, where the Buff n’ Blue have outscored their opponents 103-18 so far.

If you cannot make it to Moorpark for these three games, you can catch them on the NFHS Network.
