Seattle, WA- Battling until the last minute, CenturyLink Field was on pins and needles waiting to see who of the Seattle Seahawks or the Houston Texans would take the victory.
To bring hope back to Seattle, Russell Wilson threw a 48 yard pass to Paul Richardson Jr. continuing to make the ball game a nail biter. Next Wilson launched the football to Tyler Lockett, giving the Seahawks a 19 yard gain. Then he found Jimmy Graham for a touchdown with only :21 seconds left, ending the game at 38-41.
Seahawks quarterback Wilson and Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson lit up the stadium with their resilient effort of leading their teams.
“Deshaun Watson is special. Go ahead and give him rookie of the year.” said Wilson, “He’s a great player.”
With so much buzz around the highly anticipated Sunday football game, the Seattle Seahawks versus the Houston Texans, America waited to see how the Texans would protest against owner Bob McNair.
“I told them if I had to do it over again I wouldn’t use that expression,” said McNair to the Houston Chronicle.
To no surprise the Houston Texans players took a knee during our National Anthem. Some standing with their hands over their hearts, the team did not protest as a whole.
Starting strong, Houston Texans rookie Watson completed a 59-yard touchdown pass to within minutes of the first quarter.
But just like that the Seahawks left cornerback Justin Coleman intercepted Watson’s pass taking the ball for a 78 yard run to score the Seahawks first touchdown, making it a tied 7-7 with ten minutes remaining in the first quarter.
Wilson’s 20-yard pass complete to Richardson giving the Seahawks a touchdown to tie the Texans at 14-14.
Wilson pleases the crowd completing a 53-yard pass to Tanner McEvoy to leave the Seahawks at the 7-yard line. Seconds later making a second touchdown pass to Richardson 21-21 at half.
Watson’s pass intercepted by Richard Sherman returning 19-yards. Struggling to score, Blair Walsh succeeds with a 21-yard kick giving Seahawks their first lead at 24-27 going into the final quarter.
A Seattle Seahawks penalty of Chop Block pushes the Hawks back 15 yards. Immediately followed by a pass interference against the Texans, which allowed Russell Wilson to lead Jimmy Graham into the end zone 31-34.
Watson threw a touchdown to Hopkins for a 72 yard to put the Texans back in the lead at 38-34 with under five minutes in the game.
“I don’t know if you guys can imagine but we practice it, we practice believing so we can get to the point where when we have these opportunities we won’t let up,” said coach Pete Carroll.
The Seahawks and Texans combined a 988 total yards today, setting a record for this season.
