INDIANAPOLIS , IN – In a barn burner Rutgers senior Tyler Scaife hits the go ahead jumper to secured a 62-60 victory to knock off eighth-seeded Purdue in the Second Round of the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday afternoon at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Scaife scored a team high 19 points in 31 minutes of play but none more important than that last shot.

“That I’m not afraid of the moment. My teammates believe in me, and so does the coaching staff,” said Scaife, “I wanted the ball in my hands,”

Purdue was looking to play good defense and get the ball into Dominique Oden hands again who finished with game high 25 points in 40 minutes but couldn’t hit that last one.

Now with this victory for coach C. Vivian Stringer is only three games away from 1,000 victories.

In the second half when Stringer’s Scarlet Knights went on a 10-4 run to stretch their lead to 48-37.

” I was like triple excited and nervous,” said Stringer, “but today for the first time I thought every possession we were very conscious of what we needed to do.”

Victoria Harris scored 11 points, 6 rebounds along with Ciani Cryor playing starting minutes off the bench with 5 points and 5 assists.

Rutgers will advance to face off against the No 1 seed Ohio State who have had a bye up till now.
