Los Angeles, Ca- Two schools with rich City Section Football the Garfield Bulldogs and the Crenshaw Cougars faced off Friday at Crenshaw High School. Once the turf pellets fell Crenshaw had raced off to 49-0 victory.
Right from the start Crenshaw offensive took off to the end zone with Solomon Hassen going 70 yards for touchdown. Even nose guard Sahbri White caught a touchdown interception pass for an 11 yard touchdown in first quarter.
The Bulldogs started the game without senior quarterback Adam Polanco, but Bruce Gonzalez held the controls. The offensive showed flashes but were just not able to keep drives up long enough to get on the scoreboard.
Jared Greenfield the signal caller for Crenshaw had no troubles finding the end zone four times with his arm. His favorite target tonight was Rayshawn Williams who had touchdown catches of 36 yards and 11 yards.
Another big player for Crenshaw was Dennis Patrick who also found end zone twice, one was exciting 67 yard score. Patrick had to turn around and do kickoff duties after each score as well. Kicking off eight times in the game his legs were working.
From the defense class of 2018 defensive back Joseph Williams was tasked with guarding Garfield receiver Jalen Lawrence who had few big catches but didn’t reach the promise land.
Williams was able to stop two big drives of Garfield with interceptions, first one coming on athletic double tip and catch. His second interception came on fade route in the end zone.
“My coaches told me the ball was coming to me,” said Crenshaw Corner Joseph Williams.
Now Crenshaw will need to bring this same intensity next Friday when they host Vista Murrieta at 7pm. The Bulldogs will host the Servite Friars at 7pm also on Friday September 22.
