Boulder, CU – Arizona St had there way in the air and on land running though Colorado defense for a 42-34 victory on the road.
Sun Devils field general Trenton Bourguet (#16) amassed 435 yards with 3 touchdowns on 32/43 passes. His tight end Jalin Conyers (#12) was the touchdown machine catching all three for 108 yards. Conyers just was a hard cover for the backers to deal with his size and speed for a big man.
“He’s a big mismatch problem,” Bourguet said of Conyers. “He’s big but fast and has great hands. So just trying to give him a chance, a 50-50 ball. I trust in him to come down with it — just giving him a chance and he did the rest.”
The pass was opened up by the legs of running back Xazavian Valladay who seemed to get strong as the game went on. Valladay carried the football 23 times for 118 yards and reaching the end zone 3 times to match Conyers performance.
Colorado early highlight was a touchdown pass to Montana Lemonious-Craig snatched post off play action held backers from getting depth in the second quarter 14-10 with 10:59 on the clock. Trout also hit Jordyn Tyson on a long 3rd down for 58 yard touchdown to bring game 21-16 with 3:17 before the half.
Sun Devils Bourguet went 9/9 in the first quarter to get his team off to fast start 14-3 lead before the fireworks.
“We had a great week of practice, kind of a new scheme, but just trusting in what we practiced all week.” said Bourguet.
Both teams lit up the score board scoring a combined 28 points in the second quarter to give the fans something to see.
Buffalos quarterback J.T. Shrout (#5) was able to throw for 222 yards and 2 touchdowns with one interceptions.
Arizona St was first to score with a 9-yard touchdown by Xazavian Valladay (#1) who some would say is one of the top running back in the nation.
It was a chilly 55 degrees at kickoff at Folsom Field with nice size crowd.
The freshman receiver Tyson (#4) made a statement in the 4th quarter with an amazing 87 punt return to give little life to Buffaloes trailing by only 8 points with less 4 minutes in the game.
Colorado will hit the film room and get ready to host Oregon here at Boulder. Arizona St will host UCLA both playing next Saturday November 5th.
