Los Angeles, Ca – After a two week break from games the Women of Troy ( 3-2) showed no signs of rust in a impressive 20-6 win over the Liberty Flames (1-5). It’s still earlier in the lacrosse season still in non conference schedule but the Trojans have had some tough games already.
They started the scoring barrage as earlier as 28:00 minutes left in half with a free position shot by captain midfielder Amanda Johansen. The Trojans had a goal scored by 11 different players in the game. The attack on Liberty just came from all over the place. Johansen personally accounted for three goals herself, two being 8 meters goals. She was very please with her teammates play, “We worked hard at practice to make sure we got ready for Liberty.”
The Trojans leading scorer in game was sophomore Attacker Michaela Michael who put in five goals. When asked why she thought the team and herself had so much success in this game Michael said, “We were ready for the zone defense and a lot of 8 footers so I had great looks (on goal).” The offense looked real fluid and the ball was moving in great rhythm, Michael said “Nice to be back at home verse being on the road last few games with the great weather.
Looking ahead into conference play in MPSF, the Trojans will have Cal Lady Bears. After today’s contest the Bears will have few more people to scout for because of the depth and scoring threats. They really showed how strong and deep the Women of Troy are this year playing over 30 players in this victory.
