Anaheim, Ca – The LA Kiss Arena Football Team has opened the season 1-1. The AFL and its 14 team league have taken notice that the LA KISS are here. They are competing in the National Conference – West Division with the Back 2 Back Defending Champions Arizona Rattlers.
The LA KISS opened up their inaugural 2014 season on the road Saturday with a thrilling last minute 41-38 victory over the San Antonio Talons at the Alamodome. The record books and the Kiss foundation will forever be a victory. The next game was a high scoring shootout loss to the Orlando Predators 69-63 in overtime. The Predators didn’t take their first lead till 63-56 with 43 seconds left in regulation. The Kiss third rank passing in league QB J.J. Raterink tied the score in 12 seconds to allow for overtime.
Raterink has managed 52.6% completion rate, 436 yards & 9 touchdowns in the air thus far after two games. His main targets are both in the top ten of the leagues wide receivers Markee White 143 yards, 14 catches, 3 touchdowns & Donovan Morgan 128 yards, 12 catches, 4 touchdowns. The fast pace of the AFL game will allow for some great numbers if they keep this up.
Not to be out done is the AFL Sack leader Beau Bell with 3 sacks for the Kiss. From his linebacker position coming aggressively on the pass rush has been good. Look for upcoming teams to look to double team Bell to slow down his effectiveness. Fellow defender Andre Jones leads the team with 10 tackles. The Defensive Backs are ball hawking with 3 combined interceptions thus far. The Kiss’ defensive coordinator will need to continue to come up with great game plans, and allow his defense to play loose and physical.
The LA Kiss has a bye this week that will allow for the troops to rally back and get ready for their home opener next week Saturday April 5th against Portland Thunder at 6:30pm live at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Ca.
